Notice — PASS Lab. was formerly the Embedded Software Engineering (ESE) Laboratory. In March 2027 the department is renamed the Department of AI Robotics; until then it remains the Department of Information and Communications Engineering.

Faculty

Saehwa Kim is a Professor in the Department of AI Robotics at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. She received her BS, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Seoul National University in 1997, 2000, and 2006.

Before joining HUFS she was a researcher and then senior researcher at the Automation and Systems Research Institute in Seoul, working on intelligent robot software platforms and automotive operating systems, and a senior research engineer at the Software & Solution Center of LG Electronics, working on mobile software platforms.

Her research interests are software engineering and embedded software platforms for specific industrial domains — intelligent robots, AI-defined vehicles, and mobile systems — with a current focus on the system software layer beneath physical AI.
